Word Ladder

Goal: Transform the start word into the target word by changing one letter at a time. Each step must form a valid English word.

  • Click a letter position in the current word to select it.
  • Click a letter on the on-screen keyboard to change that position.
  • When your word is valid (shown by a green checkmark), click Submit to add it to the ladder.
  • You may only change one letter per step.
  • Use Undo to step back up the ladder if you get stuck.
  • Try to reach the target in as few steps as possible – par shows the optimal number.

Difficulty levels:

  • Easy – 3-letter words, 3–4 steps
  • Medium – 4-letter words, 4–6 steps
  • Hard – 5-letter words, 5–8 steps
