Hearts

Goal: Avoid taking hearts and the Queen of Spades, or take them all to "Shoot the Moon."

Setup: 52 cards are dealt evenly among 4 players (13 each). At the start of each round, you pass 3 cards to another player. The passing direction rotates: left, right, across, then no pass.

How to play: The player holding the 2 of Clubs leads the first trick. Each player must follow the suit led. If you cannot follow suit, you may play any card. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick.

Scoring:
• Each Heart taken = 1 point
• Queen of Spades = 13 points
• Shoot the Moon – if one player takes all 26 points, every other player gets 26 points instead.

Restrictions:
• Hearts cannot be led until a heart or the Queen of Spades has been played on a previous trick ("hearts broken").
• On the first trick, you cannot play hearts or the Queen of Spades.

Winning: The game ends when a player reaches 100 points. The player with the lowest score wins.
